Minerals & Gems Exhibit at the Smith County Heritage Museum

The Smith County Heritage Museum in Carthage will be kicking off a two-week exhibit, “MINERALS & GEMS” Thursday evening, April 7 at 6:00 pm during the annual Member/Donor Appreciation Reception at the museum.
Local expert, Walt Gaylord, geologist, will be speaking to the group on the topic, including the mining of Smith County minerals & gems.

The exhibit will be open to the public for viewing through April 23rd. As always, entry to the museum remains free. Museum hours are Thursday, 12 noon–4:00pm; Fridays & Saturdays 10:00am–2:00 pm.

It is not too late to become a member of the museum in 2016 and gain access to this exciting presentation and reception wherein attendants can bring their private specimens to display and wear their prized gems!  Individual annual memberships are only $25 ($5 for students) or $40/family. All donations help to maintain this non-profit community “gem” available for all to enjoy.
