A man was taken into custody after methamphetamine and marijuana, along with other paraphernalia, were found in his vehicle Monday.
Officer Nick Campbell of the Carthage Police Department observed a sliver Dodge Durango driving erratically on N. Main Street in Carthage. At this time, the vehicle turn onto E. Jefferson Street. Campbell continued to observe the vehicle as it stopped on Carmack Avenue.
Campbell made casual contact with the driver, identified as 22-year-old Tyler Anderson of Carthage.
Upon speaking with Anderson, Campbell asked if there was anything illegal inside the vehicle, to which Anderson stated there being a set of scales.
At this time, K-9 Officer Junior Fields arrived at the scene and conducted a free air sniff, to which the K-9 did indicate something in the vehicle.
Upon searching the vehicle, a set of scales, hypodermic needles, a green leafy substance one would associate with marijuana, and a small bag with white crystals one would associate with methamphetamine were all located.
Anderson was arrested and transported to the Smith County Jail Facility for booking.
He is charged with Felony Possession Drug Paraphernalia and Possession Controlled Substances.
