A traffic stop in Gordonsville led to the discovery of multiple drugs, including meth, Sunday, March 5.
Officer David Petty of the Gordonsville Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle he had been following with a tag number that was found to not be on file upon being run through dispatch.
According to the arrest warrant, Petty observed a needle in plain view on the middle console as he approached the vehicle.
Petty asked the driver if there were any more drugs, weapons or paraphernalia in the vehicle, to which he stated he was unsure, according to the arrest warrant.
Petty ran the VIN number of the vehicle, which came back registered to a tag number belonging to different individuals than those who were occupying the vehicle.
The driver was identified as 46 year-old Randy Caldwell of Smithville. Petty confirmed through dispatch that Caldwell had a suspended license as of November 20, 2016.
A search of the vehicle revealed a total of eight syringes, five 100 mg Seroquel, one 200 mg Seroquel, five 150 mg Pliva (Trazodone), five 50 mg Pliva, Methamphetamine, four 25 mg Promethazine and one Zolpidem Tartrate.
Caldwell was placed under arrest and transported to the Smith County Jail Facility for booking.
He is charged with possession of legend drug without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to use, driving on a suspended license, possession of schedule II, possession of schedule IV and possession of schedule V.
