A Carthage man faces charges after meth was found in his possession, along with evidence of drug transactions, at the Budget Inn motel Monday, Jan. 9.
Sgt. Junior Fields of the Smith County Sheriff’s Office, along with Sgt. Dusty Hailey, went to the Budget Inn in Carthage after receiving information that 39-year-old Samuel Forrester would be there, and drugs would be present.
Fields contacted State Probation and Parole Officer Casey Sykes to confirm that Forrester was in fact on parole status, at which it was confirmed that he was.
While on the phone with Sykes, Fields observed Forrester come to the door of his motel room and wave at him. At that time, Fields and Hailey went to the room and spoke to Forrester.
Upon checking Forrester for weapons, due to having information that he had recently been in possession of a firearm, Fields located a pocket knife.
According to the arrest warrant, Forrester also had a pill bottle in his right pants pocket, which contained approximately 2.9 mg of crystal methamphetamine.
A search of Forrester’s wallet revealed that he had a receipt where he obtained his medication on Jan. 5, at which he stated that his oxycodone had been stolen, according to the arrest warrant.
The receipt had names with amounts written on the back, which is believed to be individuals who purchased pilss from Forrester, according to the arrest warrant.
Forrester was placed under arrest and transported to the Smith County Jail Facility for booking.
He is charged with manufacture/delivery/sale of a controlled substance.
