A meth lab was discovered in a vehicle, leading to the arrest of two individuals Thursday, February 2.
Sgt. Junior Fields of the Smith County Sheriff’s Office came in contact with a vehicle on East Potter Road.
Fields spoke with the driver, identified as 31-year-old Jamie Mofield of Lebanon, and the passenger, identified as 44-year-old Matthew Bagley of Lebanon. According to the arrest warrant, Mofield stated that she did not have any identification.
At this time, Sgt. Dusty Hailey arrived at the scene.
Upon checking Mofield’s license, it was found to be revoked out of Sumner County, where she had a prior driving while revoked conviction, according to the arrest warrant.
Fields placed Mofield in the back of his patrol vehicle due to her license being revoked.
Fields then spoke to Bagley and advised him that if there was anything in the vehicle, to just tell him.
According to the arrest warrant, Bagley advised Fields that he had some methamphetamine and a “trash bottle.” Fields inquired as to what Bagley meant by “trash bottle,” to which Bagley replied a meth bottle that was not active, according to the arrest warrant.
During search of the vehicle, a non-active methamphetamine lab was located in the backseat inside a large black glove. Further search of the vehicle revealed multiple hypodermic syringes with methamphetamine inside of them along with a coffee filter containing meth and a marijuana pipe.
According to the arrest warrant, Bagley further stated he had purchased pseudoephedrine within the last week, which was used to manufacture methamphetamine.
After being advised of her Miranda Rights, Mofield stated she did not know the bottle was in the vehicle and that she was on probation for promotion of methamphetamine out of Wilson County, according to the arrest warrant.
A hypodermic syringe with methamphetamine was located inside Mofield’s purse.
Both Mofield and Bagley were placed under arrest and transported to the Smith County Jail Facility for booking.
Mofield is charged with driving on a revoked license (2nd offense), possession of schedule II (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bagley is charged with initiation of methamphetamine manufacture process; manufacture, deliver, sell or possession of schedule II (methamphetamine), promotion of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The 15th Judicial Drug Task Force was notified of the notified of the meth lab and responded to the scene for clean up, at which Hailey stood by the meth lab until their arrival.
