(Smith County Insider Press) — A Gordonsville man faces multiple drug-related charges following a parole search of his residence Saturday, July 15.

Sgt. Junior Fields along with Sgt. Dusty Hailey of the Smith County Sheriff’s Office went to a Cordell Hull Circle residence in Carthage for a knock and talk and parole search of Steven Brown (27, Gordonsville).

Upon arrival and locating Brown, he was advised that a parole search would be conducted of the residence, according to the arrest warrant.

Upon entering Brown’s bedroom, Fields observed a set of digital scales laying on the window seal. Hailey lifted back the cover on the bed, and a plastic container was located containing a baggie of crystal methamphetamine (Schedule II), 3 1/2 hydrocodone pills (Schedule II), 1 1/2 buprenorphine pills (Schedule III) and one oxycodone 15 mg pill (Schedule II).

Hailey then looked at the end of the bed and located a small amount of marijuana, along with a chewing gum wrapper containing more crystal methamphetamine and a second chewing gum wrapper with crushed up buprenorphine.

According to the arrest warrant, Brown stated the drugs were his and further stated that he was selling the drugs to get by.

Brown was placed under arrest and transported to the Smith County Jail Facility for booking.

He is charged with Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, four counts of Manufacture/Deliver/Sell of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Controlled Substances.
