At Gordonsville High School Graduation Friday, May 20th the Southside Lions Club presented the Taylor-Wills Memorial Citizenship Award to Mr. Jeremiah McCaleb.
Every year the Southside Lions Club presents this award as memorial to commemorate the memory of Joe Taylor and Shannon Wills, two Gordonsville High School graduates, who lost their lives during the Vietnam War.
The Southside Lions Club established this award to be presented annually to an outstanding member of the Senior Class of Gordonsville High School who possesses the qualities of patriotism, bravery, leadership, citizenship, reverence, friendliness, and a desire to achieve.
Mr. Jeremiah McCaleb was selected by the Southside Lions Clubs per recommendations submitted by Gordonsville High School faculty and students. Jeremiah’s parents are Marty McCaleb and the late Marietta Denton McCaleb of Gordonsville.
The award was presented by Chad Williams at Gordonsville High School’s commencement services.
Joe Kenneth Taylor: 1960 Graduate of Gordonsville High School; Deceased on February 22, 1966 (age 24).
Roy Shannon Wills: 1968 Graduate of Gordonsville High School; Deceased on July 14, 1969 (age 19).
