I, Matthew J. Inyart, would like to formally announce my name for consideration for Smith County Commissioner in District 4 (Rome/Rock City) as a Republican candidate.
In May 2017, I was elected to fill an empty District 4 seat on the Smith County Commission.
While in office, I tried to help bring fiber internet to the Rome area, identify areas where we can modernize county offices, and help get more SROs into Smith County School System.
I am married to Stephanie Jenkins-Inyart, an educator who has taught at Union Heights for several years. We have two growing boys- Cooper (6 years old) and Cole (4 years old). We have lived on the family farm on Jenkins Road in the Rome community for the past ten years. I currently work for the Tennessee Department of Transportation as a Network Operations Administrator- Lead for the past seven years.
Since moving to Smith County, I have made it my goal to be active in the community in which I reside. I am involved in several organizations, including Southside Lions Club, New Middleton Masonic Lodge #249, Carthage Benevolent Masonic Lodge #14, Smith County Adult Leadership Opportunity (served as Chairman for Class of 2018), helped to start the Gordonsville Events Committee, and currently serving as the Pack Committee Chairman for Cub Scout Pack 367 in Carthage.
I moved to Smith County because my wife’s family is from here. However, I have made the Rome community my home in the past ten years. I respect Smith County’s history, and I want to be part of its future.
