Ron Marshall resigns after decade of leading Gordonsville football program

After spending the last decade that culminated into winning a Class 1A State title back in 2012, Ron Marshall has resigned at his alma mater Gordonsville.

Marshall was also a member of the 1984 Class A state title team for the Tigers and led Gordonsville to a 68-40 record in his time in Gordonsville, which included nine playoff berths.

“Yes Coach Marshall has decided to resign as Head Football Coach,” Gordonsville Athletic Director Butch Agee said.

The Tigers finished 7-5 this season making the 1A playoffs before losing to Whitwell in the second round.

Gordonsville won at least seven games in six different seasons (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016 and 2017) with the best season being in 2012 as they went 13-1 and beat Huntingdon for the 1A state title.

Before becoming the head coach at Gordonsville, Marshall also was the head coach at Lebanon (1998-2001) as well and has an overall record of 84-65.

There are 14 schools that are currently looking for a head coach they are: Cannon County, Chester County, Gibbs, Gordonsville, Grundy County, Halls, Humboldt, Houston, Jellico, Kingsbury, Memphis East, Scott, Upperman and Volunteer.
