Deputy Matt Bush of the Smith County Sheriff’s Office was on routine patrol in the area of 30 Cookeville Highway, when he recognized a wanted man riding a bicycle. Deputy Bush confirmed with dispatch that the man did have an active warrant out of Wilson County.
Deputy Bush made contact with the man, identified as Jonathan Lyda. Lyda was then placed under arrest. Before placing Lyda in the back of the patrol car, Deputy Bush searched Lyda’s person. Lyda had two bags of marijuana and an unmarked bottle containing 16 Alprazolam (Xanax) pills on him.
Lyda was transported to Smith County Jail Facility and charged with possession of schedule VI and possession of schedule IV.
