An arrest was made in Gordsonsville after a man found in possession of cocaine Monday.
Officer David Petty of the Gordonsville Police Department was driving through the Wilco/Hess parking lot when he saw the passenger of a vehicle have an open contained of Bud Light sitting on the roof of the car.
Petty made contact with the individual, identified as 25-year-old Benjamin J. Franklin of Watertown. According to Petty, Franklin lied to him about the bottle of beer he had witnessed while driving up.
Petty asked Franklin if there were any drugs of weapons in the vehicle, and he stated no. While Petty was going to pat him down, Franklin had his wallet and a $20 bill in his hand. The bill was folded in such a way as to have something in it.
Franklin was asked to open the bill up, and it was revealed to contain a white, powdery substance, to which Franklin admitted to being cocaine.
Franklin was placed under arrest and transported to the Smith County Jail Facility for booking.
He is charged with Possession of Schedule II.
