CARTHAGE, Tenn.—On July 16, 2018, Carthage City Police responded to a call about an unresponsive man who was slumped inside his vehicle in the parking lot of the Quick N Easy market in Carthage, Tennessee.
When police arrived on the scene, they found Mr. Jesus Cedillo (54, Carthage) inside a red pickup truck. According to the police report, the door of the truck was slightly ajar.
Officers suspected that Cedillo had been deceased for some time.
A bystander who was driving his girlfriend to work was the first to notice Cedillo’s condition. The bystander went inside Quick N Easy Market to see how long the vehicle had been parked there. He then proceeded to check on Cedillo.
When the bystander was unable to locate Cedillo’s pulse, he called 911.
First responders and EMS personnel proclaimed Cedillo dead upon arrival.
According to the police narrative, security footage revealed that Cedillo was inside his vehicle for approximately 40 minutes before he became noticeably unresponsive. Cedillo did not leave his vehicle, and no other activity occurred until police were notified of the situation.
Cedillo’s body was transported to Riverview Regional Medical Center, where a Medical Examiner would attempt to determine the official cause of death.
Cedillo’s vehicle was towed away to a secure location for evidence purposes.
