(Smith County Insider Press) – On January 8, 2018, Deputy Matt Bush and Sgt. Dusty Haley were alerted that a silver Nissan Altima that had been reported stolen from Wilson County was spotted on Davis Lane North.
According to the police report, the officers observed a silver Nissan Altima with dark tinted windows matching the description of the stolen vehicle turn onto Hiwassee Road.
Deputy Bush and Sgt. Haley located the vehicle in a driveway. The driver of the vehicle, Christopher Ryan Beale (45, Lebanon), was standing beside the driver side door.
According to the police report, Beale told the officers he had the vehicle for two weeks. When the VIN number was checked, it came back to the stolen Nissan Altima from Wilson County. The plates on the vehicle were registered to a different Nissan Altima.
Beale was placed under arrest for theft of property. According to the police report, before Beale was placed in the patrol car, Deputy Bush performed a pat down of Beale and found a bag of marijuana.
Beale was transferred to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office for booking.
According to the police report, the officers then spoke with Beale’s girlfriend, asking about a 2006 Jeep Commander in the driveway. The girlfriend stated that she did not know who the vehicle belonged to, and that she had seen it off and on for the past two years.
The VIN was run by dispatch, and officers were advised that the Jeep had also been reported stolen out of Wilson County.
Beale is charged with two counts of theft of property over $1000 and possession of schedule VI (marijuana).
