(Smith County Insider Press) — A Wilburn Hollow resident faces animal cruelty charges after three dogs — two malnourished and one deceased — were located at his residence.
Sgt. Dusty Hailey and Deputy Robles of the Smith County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a Wilburn Hollow residence for an animal complaint August 8.
Upon arrival, three pit bull dogs were located on the premises. According to the arrest warrant, one dog was deceased and the other two were in various states of malnutrition.
According to the arrest warrant, a black pit bull was chained to the front porch and was severely underweight and lethargic.
Representatives from the Smith County Humane Society were contacted and arrived to rescue the dogs.
According to the arrest warrant, Jose Guerrero (38, Riddleton) had brought the dogs there a couple of month prior and was taking care of the dogs.
According to the arrest warrant, Guerrero failed to properly care for the dogs by not providing food and failing to contact other resources to care for the dogs.
Guerrero is charged with three counts of cruelty to animals.
