(Smith County Insider Press) Gordonsville, Tenn. – On Saturday, September 25, Deputy Jimmy Gregory was dispatched to Hartsville Pike due to a reported suspicious person walking down the road.
Upon arrival, Deputy Gregory spoke with Ms. Amanda West who stated that she ran off the road into a ditch and her boyfriend, Daniel Harper, had gone to get a tractor to pull the vehicle out. When Harper arrived he was allegedly stumbling severely. Deputy Gregory asked Harper how much he had to drink which Harper replied, none. Because Deputy Gregory could smell alcohol coming from Harper’s person, so he asked again, at which time Harper stated that he had consumed four beers.
After failing a field sobriety test, Harper was placed under arrest and was transported to Riverview Regional Medical Center to have blood drawn. He was then transported to the Smith County Jail Facility for booking.
