On Sunday, March 22, 2020, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signed into effect Executive Order 17, which calls for businesses across the state to utilize alternative business models beginning at midnight on Monday, March 23, 2020, until midnight April 6, 2020.

On March 30, 2020, Bill Lee signed Executive Order 22, which directs Tennesseans to stay at home unless engaging in essential activities. This order remains in effect until April 14, 2020.

Governor Lee’s executive order enacts the following provisions regarding restaurants, bars, and similar food and drink establishments:

  • Establishments are to exclusively offer drive-thru, take-out or delivery options to support families, businesses and the food supply chain during this emergency.
  • Establishments may sell alcohol by take-out or delivery (with the purchase of food) in closed containers to those who are age 21 and up.

Many of our local restaurants in Smith County are adapting to these new guidelines by closing their dining rooms, adjusting their business hours, and offering to-go meals and delivery service.

Much like we have been with our COVID-19 Changes, Closures, and Cancellations list, we’re trying to keep this list of changes to local restaurants as up-to-date as possible. If you have any information to add, please let us know! Thanks to the Smith County Chamber of Commerce for helping us with this list!
