When Kathy Sherfield decided to leave a nearly 28-year career in human resources, she wasn’t exactly sure what came next. What she did know was that she wanted a more creative path, greater autonomy, and an opportunity to more fully express her Christian faith. Today, that calling has grown into All About Him Cookie Co., LLC, a faith-based home bakery serving customers throughout Smith County and the surrounding area.
A lifelong resident of Smith County, Kathy says her roots run deep.
“I was born and raised in Carthage, so I have a deep-rooted connection to and appreciation for Smith County,” she said. “I believe it’s one of the most beautiful places to live with many loving and friendly people.”
Operating from her home in Brush Creek, Kathy officially launched her business in February 2026 after spending months developing and perfecting her own unique cookie recipes.
What makes All About Him Cookie Co. different from a traditional bakery is that faith is woven into every aspect of the business. Kathy views the operation not only as a bakery but also as a ministry.
“God quickly called me to create my own cookie recipes to bake and sell from my home, establishing both a cookie business and a ministry that shares the love and Word of Jesus,” she explained.
Every cookie is paired with a Bible verse and given a corresponding faith-inspired name. Orders also include a Gospel tract, and visitors to the company’s website can find devotionals, scripture reflections, faith-based blog posts, and newsletter signups.
The bakery specializes in gourmet dessert-style cookies inspired by favorite desserts and childhood treats. Customer favorites include flavors such as Pecan Pie, Cherry Cheesecake, Lemon Blueberry, Triple Chocolate Chunk, Caramel Apple Pie, Peanut Butter, and Chocolate Sundae-inspired creations.
Kathy’s goal was not to create an ordinary cookie.
“My goal was to create a ‘dessert’ cookie, one that’s ample in size, satisfying to the sweetest of sweet tooths, and worth the splurge,” she said.
Customers order through the company’s website, where cookie photos, descriptions, and a convenient online ordering system allow them to select pickup or delivery times. Orders are available for pickup in Carthage and Gordonsville, with limited local gift delivery available. The business currently operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and requires advance notice for baking and preparation.
Kathy says one of the most rewarding aspects of owning the business is the opportunity to share her faith.
“My favorite thing about owning this business is the outlet it provides to share the Gospel with others,” she said.
Family remains at the center of her life and her business journey. Kathy and her husband, Rodger Sherfield, are parents to a blended family of five sons and grandparents to nine grandchildren.
While the home bakery continues to grow, Kathy already has her eyes on the future. Her long-term vision includes opening a storefront in Carthage where she can offer cookies, additional baked goods, Christian-themed merchandise, and even create opportunities to showcase other locally owned businesses.
“I would also like to use my storefront to feature the goods and services of other local, privately-owned businesses to help them advertise,” she said.
Recently featured on the Smith County Chamber Corner program, Kathy’s business serves as an example of the entrepreneurial spirit thriving throughout Smith County. Through a combination of creativity, faith, and a commitment to quality, All About Him Cookie Co. has quickly established itself as a unique local business with a mission that extends well beyond baking cookies.
