Leadership Opportunity Smith County receives donation – Youth Leadership Applications are being accepted NOW

Jack McDaniel one of the founding partners of  Leadership Upper Cumberland donated funds to Leadership Opportunity Smith County. Billy Woodard, Executive Director of the Smith County Chamber of Commerce received the donation on behalf of Leadership Opportunity Smith County.

Chartered in 1996 Leadership Upper Cumberland was created to support Leadership Programs in the region serving 17 counties including Smith County.  LUC was a volunteer organization that drew from the ranks of Leadership Alumni and other people with regional interests to support local Leadership programs.  Having dissolved the nonprofit organization,  the left-over funds were designated to be donated to area Leadership Programs in the region that still serve their communities.  Leadership Opportunity is pleased to receive this donation and will continue the mission of developing leaders in Smith County.

Applications for 2022-23 Youth Leadership Class are currently available at the Smith County Chamber of Commerce. High School Sophomores and Juniors are eligible to apply. Students participating in the Leadership Program receive valuable information about Smith County, becoming a leader and networking for employment and scholarship opportunities. The application deadline is September 2nd at noon.. Applications can be dropped off at the Smith County Chamber of Commerce.
