Jennings, Clay named new principals at Smith County Middle School for the 2022-23 school year

The Smith County Board of Education recently announced that Randy Jennings and Cara Clay have been appointed as new principals at Smith County Middle School for the 2022-2023 school year.

Jennings will be serving as the new principal of SCMS. Jennings has been an educator for 27 years and most recently served as a 7th grade teacher at Gordonsville Junior High School. Jennings was formerly the principal of DeKalb County Middle School for 12 years and DeKalb County High School for 4 years.

Clay will be serving as the Assistant Principal of SCMS. Clay has been an educator since 2003 and most recently served as the 8th grade ELA and Social Studies teacher at SCMS.

Director of Schools, Barry Smith told SCI, “Smith County Schools has been blessed to have good leaders in the previous administrations and appreciate their dedication and hard work for our schools. We are excited to welcome the new administrations and ready for them to lead their respective schools in their new positions for the 2022-23 school year.”
