
On Tuesday, May 2, around 5 pm a hit-and-run incident occurred at the westbound on-ramp of I-40 in Gordonsville. The incident involved a vehicle and a homeless man sitting on the shoulder of the ramp. The vehicle struck and killed the man and then drove away.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol stated that “Vehicle debris, in the form of an inner fender liner, was found wrapped around the deceased. The debris had the word Toyota, along with some model numbers.”
The identity of the man has not been released at this time. His body was sent for an autopsy, and his clothing was sent to the TBI for examination of trace evidence.
The vehicle is believed to be a 2014-2019 white Toyota Highlander with a Disabled Veteran license plate.
