Grand Opening of the 1950’s features 1950’s Car show – Pictured is a 1953 Chevrolet Truck to be featured in show
Historic Granville Grand Opening of the 1950’s on April 14th will feature a 1950’s Antique Car Show with 15 classes of competition. Cars may be entered in the show from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 across from the Sutton General Store. There will be three place trophies awarded in each category with awards at 3:00 p.m. Registration fee to enter the car is $10.00 with the show being sponsored by O’Reilly Auto Parts and Coca Cola Co. Consolidated. The historic town has been decorated in a grand 1950’s fashion for the year of 2018. On April 14th the Grand Opening will feature a 1950’s Sock Hop, 1950’s Music, 1950’s Costume Contest, 1950S Dance Off Contest, Hoola Hoop Contest, Bubble Gum Blowing Contest, 1950’s Games, 1950’s Soda Shop, 1950’s Diner and much more.
Granville is also featuring a extensive I Love Lucy Exhibit at Granville Museum, Sutton Historic Home and Sutton General Store that will be on exhibit for the entire year of 2018. On April 14th there will be the following I Love Lucy events: Lunch with Lucy at Sutton General Store from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and I Love Lucy Grape Stomping Contest at 2:00 p.m. at Gazebo.
April 14th will be a day of 1950’s music with D J Mac Griffin playing 1950’s music, 1950’s Elvis music by Lebanon Kenneth Underwood at 9:30 a.m. and 12:00 and 1950’s band “The E. J. Rider Band” performing at 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. All of the music and 1950’s contest will be occur at the Pruett Stage.
April 14th in Granville will also be the third annual Upper Cumberland Wine Festival at the Pioneer Village from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. with admission being $20.00 day of event or advance tickets are $15.00 purchased thru uppercumberlandwinetrail.com or Sutton General Store 931-653-4151. Granville will also feature their annual Genealogy Festival at the Granville United Methodist Church from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with speakers, viewing of video Stories of Granville and genealogy research booths.
April 14th will also be the 10th anniversary of Sutton General Store and Sutton Ole Time Music Hour. Sutton Ole Time Music Hour will feature one of the nations top bluegrass bands “David Harmley & Cardinal Tradition” with dinner at 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. with warm up show at 6:00 p.m. and live radio taping at 7:00 p.m For reservations call 931-653-4151.
