Gregory Farms added to the Tennessee Century Farms Program

April 13, 2023

Located in northern Smith County, Gregory Farms is located in northern Smith County. It dates back to the nineteenth century, with the earliest documentation seen in the will of Rufus Beasley’s in 1911. It has some rich history with family members continuing to pass the farm down thru several generations.

Today’s owner, Richey Gregory, is the son of Ann Sharon and Garvice. He began acquiring acreage in 1994. As owner, Richey has raised cattle, tobacco, corn, alfalfa, feeder calves, hay, Belgian horses, and mules. He still has much of the horse-drawn equipment that his grandfather used, including a double shovel, harrow, 1-row corn planter, and turning plow. Four generations live on the farm, and several pre-1960 buildings are still used or lived in today.
