(Smith County Insider Press) Carthage, Tenn. – On Thursday afternoon around 4pm, Smith County 911 received a call reporting a grass fire in the yard of a home on Dogwood Street. The caller told dispatchers that the fire was spreading rapidly and it was partially underneath the residence.
Carthage Fire Department was dispatched to the scene. Neighbors in the area were able to keep the fire under control with a hose pipe until the fire department could arrive.
Firefighters extinguished the flames and sprayed the area around the fire with water so that it would not rekindle.
The fire took place at 107 Dogwood Street.
Smith County EMS and Carthage Police Department also responded to the call.
