October 18, 2018

The Gordonsville Tigers beat the Jackson County Blue Devils 30-0 on Thursday night to advance to 7-2 on the season.

The Tigers defense took care of business with Jackson County’s first drive, which gave the offense a chance to take an early lead.

Gordonsville’s offense came out hot, scoring on a six play, 70 yard drive that was capped off by a Skyshn Washer 4 yard touchdown to put the Tigers up 6-0.

Neither team could get much going in the next couple of drives, but the Tigers were able to drive down on the verge of scoring a touchdown before they were forced to kick a field goal, which Levi Halliburton hit from 33 yards out.

After forcing the Blue Devils to punt again, the Tigers offense found its way into the end zone on a 54 yard touchdown run by Taylor Thaxton to bring the score to 16-0 before the end of the first half.

The Tigers second half started out strong, as Treyson Davis scored off of a jet sweep for a 60 yard touchdown to bring the score to 22-0 just one minute into the second half.

Gordonsville extended their lead following a drive that ended with a 2 yard Thaxton run, followed by a successful two point conversion to bring the score to 30-0.

Neither team scored in the fourth quarter, giving the Tigers their first shutout of the season.
