Gordonsville Tigers secure region championship with win over Jo Byrns

The Gordonsville Tigers got a big win on the road against Jo Byrns Red Devils to secure the Class A Region 4 Championship.

The Tigers went down early in the first quarter, giving up a touchdown just four minutes into the game. The Tigers were able to respond, scoring on the next drive as Taylor Thaxton was able to carry it in.

The Tigers found the end zone again in the second quarter off of a Braxton Givens touchdown run, but we’re not able to convert the PAT. The Tigers carried this 13-7 lead into the half.

Givens was able to get his second touchdown of the game in the third quarter to put the Tigers up 19-7. On the next Gordonsville offensive drive, Givens broke a 58 yard run to give the Tigers a 25-7 lead.

The Tigers were able to maintain this lead for the rest of the game, with neither team being able to score in the fourth quarter.

What’s next?

The Tigers will play on the road against Jackson County next week.
