Gordonsville Tigers lose to #3 ranked Fayetteville

Gordonsville vs Fayetteville – Friday, October 18, 2019

The Gordonsville Tigers lost 30-17 on Friday night to the number three ranked 1-A team, the Fayetteville Tigers, dropping to 2-6 on the year.

The Fayetteville offense came out hot, scoring on their first offensive drive of the game. The Gordonsville offense was able to make a drive down the field on the following drive, thanks to a 50 yard pass to Wyatt Pemberton to the 15 yard line. The team wasn’t able to make any progress after the big play, but were able to kick a 32 yard field goal to make the score 7-3.

The Tiger defense did a good job of slowing down the Fayetteville offense, but Fayetteville was able to extend their lead by scoring a field goal and a touchdown before the half. This gave them a 16-3 lead at half.

Following the half, Fayetteville took control of the game, scoring two touchdowns to make the score 30-3. In the fourth quarter, Gordonsville was able to score two times to narrow the lead to 30-17, but it was too little too late for the Tigers.

The Tigers will travel to play Jo Byrnes in an important region matchup next week.
