Gordonsville homecoming game called early in win against Jo Byrnes 30-6

October 24, 2020

Gordonsville got started early, taking the ball downfield on a long drive that saw the Tigers find the endzone on a 27 yard touchdown pass from Matthew Albritton to Tyler Gregory, but a missed PAT put the Tigers up 6-0.

Both teams took a lot of time off on their ensuing drives but were unable to find the endzone until halfway through the second quarter. Darrel Holt was able to break off an 82 yard touchdown run, and Holt converted the two point conversion to go up 14-0.

Jo Byrnes was able to answer, driving downfield and scoring as time expired. The Tigers were able to block the field goal, to take a 14-6 lead into halftime.

With heavy rain starting at halftime, Gordonsville was able to answer back at the start of the second half, stopping the Panthers on 4th and 6 at midfield, and then driving down and scoring off a 27 yard touchdown pass from Albritton to Landon Baker, and then converted the two point conversion to go ahead 22-6.

Gordonsville’s next possession saw them find the endzone after Holt broke off a 30 yard run to the goal line and then run it in from a couple yards out. The two point conversion attempt was successful, and the game entered a lightning delay immediately after. The game was then called due to lightning, and the Tigers won 30-6.

What’s next for the Tigers?

Gordonsville will wrap up their regular season next week by traveling to take on Monterey.
