The Upper Cumberland Development District is pleased to announce that the Tennessee Department of Transportation has awarded $125,000.00 to the Town of Gordonsville for its Land Use Corridor Study.
The project proposes to study traffic congestion and land use issues along the Gordonsville corridor near the I-40 exit. The Corridor Study will address congestion issues around the interstate interchange, schools and industrial park entrance, as well as analyze current and potential land use issues. The project will assess the potential addition of a second interchange at State Route 264 and consider improvements to the existing State Route 53 interchange.
TDOT’s Community Transportation Planning Grant (CTPG) is a competitive program which supports Tennessee communities by offering services to develop planning for land use and growth management issues. Successful applicants receive up to 90 % in state funds and commit to the remaining 10 % local match. UCDD Dale Hollow RPO Coordinator Mark Dudney and Lebanon engineer Jerry Warren worked with Mayor James Gibbs and the Town of Gordonsville to submit the application to TDOT.
“We are excited to take this much-needed first step to plan for and deal with the growth in Gordonsville. The congestion around I-40 and our schools has been an issue for some time and we are grateful to TDOT for this investment in our community,” stated Mayor Gibbs.
