(Smith County Insider Press) Gordonsville, Tenn. – On Thursday morning around 7:30 am, a four vehicle accident occurred in the parking lot of Gordonsville High School. Gordonsville Elementary SRO Sgt. Ronnie Lankford and Chief Wayne Harris of the Gordonsville Police Department were already on scene when the accident happened.
The accident was caused by a GMC Canyon that was in the drop off lane at the High School. Allegedly the driver, Larry Skelton, age 71, pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, causing him drive over a grass median and strike a Ford Taurus in the driver’s side. The GMC continued over a concrete sidewalk and struck a second vehicle, Chevrolet SUV, in the rear passenger side. The GMC finally came to a rest after striking a parked Toyato SUV in the passenger side door.
No injuries occurred in the accident, but the driver of the GMC Canyon was transported by Smith County EMS to Riverview Regional for precautionary measures.
