An accident at the Nyrstar Cumberland Mine has left four workers injured after a transformer exploded while they were performing electrical work at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2018.
Nyrstar released a statement confirming that three of the employees were treated for their injuries locally and released. One employee was transported to Vanderbilt for further assistance and treatment.
Nyrstar safety personnel promptly notified the Mine Safety and Health Administration.
This incident is currently under investigation.
