Food For Thought: Looking Back On The 2021 Fair

Another great Fair on the River is complete! Thank you to all the volunteers for helping make the fair such a success. Especially, thanks for all your help registering entries and caring for the exhibits during the week. 

Thanks to all the Smith County residents who exhibited their goods. Both the residents and the Family and Community Education (FCE) club members showed their talent with all the awards they won. A special congratulations to Night Owls FCE club for winning the Hallie Mai Clemons FCE award of $100 for the FCE club with the most entries. There were 11 Best of Show Awards presented.

Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) exhibits Best of Show winners were:

  • Floriculture- Lisa Gibbs
  • Canning- Marcia Tisdale
  • Cooking- Kathy Wilkerson
  • Sewing- Denise R. Hackett
  • Fine Arts (Amateur)- Kathy Wilkerson 
  • Fine Arts (Professional)- Anne West Towns
  • Crafts- Rue Alan Dillehay
  • Quilts- Maggie Klenke 
  • Needlecraft- Jennifer Byrnes

In addition to Best of Show Prizes, a $10 premium check was given. Thanks to our wonderful FCS exhibit sponsors: Flowers by Leanne (Leanne Hesson); Granville Bed & Breakfast (Randall and Peggy Clemons); Anne Waggoner in memory of Jennie Stewart; Nancy Hackett in memory of Cindy Maxwell Harris; Stan Webster in memory of Edith Stanton Webster; Carol Webster in memory of Beatrice Webster; Elmwood/Chestnut Mound FCE Club in memory of Wilma McDonald and Jean Huff; Carthage FCE Club; Woodshop 668 (Wayne Wezel).
