(Smith County Insider Press) Elmwood, Tenn. – Around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, the Smith County 911 received a call reporting a structure fire on Horseshoe Bend Lane. Smith County 911 Dispatch immediately paged Forks River Fire Department and Central District Fire Department to be in route to 225 Horseshoe Bend Lane. According to the Tennessee Property Assessment, the home belonged to Cheryl Brown Kuykendall.
Fireman Jamin Craighead was first to arrive on scene, he reported to dispatch that there were visible flames protruding from the roof of a double wide mobile home. By the time fire trucks could arrive on scene, they already had a partial roof collapse. With the roof being partially collapsed, it prevented fire fighters from attacking the fire from inside. A short time later, the entire roof collapsed.
Rock City Fire Department was called to assist with extra man power and rescue rehab was dispatched to bring the fireman bottled water to drink. Smith County EMS and Smith County Sheriff’s Department also arrived on scene.
The fire was fully extinguished and the fire departments left the scene at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
