Fight on interstate leads to domestic assault and drug charges

A fight in the median of the interstate near the Buffalo Valley rest area led to the arrest of two individuals Monday, May 22.

Trooper Mark Jones of the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to a call from dispatch regarding a white vehicle with a man and woman fighting beside it near the Buffalo Valley rest area.

When Jones arrived at the scene, he found the vehicle in the median with the subjects fighting beside the car.

The man was identified as Tyler Edwards (24, Spring Hill, Tennessee) and the woman was identified as Ashley Fletcher (24, Spring Hill, Tennessee).

Both Edwards and Fletcher were placed under arrest.

Upon search of the vehicle, belonging to Fletcher, Jones found three marijuana pipes, a grinder, digital scales and rolling papers that Edwards stated were his, according to the arrest warrant.

Also located inside the vehicle were a small amount of marijuana inside a grinder and a pill bottle, which Edwards also stated was his, according to the arrest warrant.

According to the arrest warrant, Fletcher was found with a small amount of marijuana in her possession located inside a pill bottle with other pills, including 18 and 1/2 small, round blue pills identified as Alprozolam 1mg and 1 1/2 Xanax bars.

Edwards and Fletcher were transported to the Smith County Jail Facility for booking.

Edwards is charged with felony possession of drug paraphernalia, domestic assault and simple possession of schedule VI.

Fletcher is charged with simple possession of schedule VI, simple possession of narcotics, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of schedule IV and domestic assault.
