On June 8, 2022 Sgt. Matt Williams executed a traffic stop at the intersection of Gordonsville Highway and Main Street South when a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder failed to stop at the stop sign. Consent to search the vehicle was given by the driver of the vehicle.

Sgt. White was assisted by Deputy Green during the search. 6.19 grams of methamphetamine, heroin and two bags containing an unknown substance were discovered in a magnetic box under the hood of the vehicle. K-9 officer Sgt. Junior Fields also assisted with the investigation.

The investigation led to charges being filed against one of the passengers in the vehicle, Johnathan Kyle Hudson, 32 of Westmorland for possession of methamphetamine, manufacture/delivery/sale of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to use. Hudson posted $7,500 bond and was released from the Smith County Jail. Hudson will appear in general sessions court at a later date.

The driver of the vehicle was issued a citation for driving on a suspended license and for failure to stop at a stop sign. Another passenger in the vehicle was not charged.
