Edgemon and Maxwell Graduate from Smith County Misdemeanor Recovery Court

On Wednesday, September 30, 2020, two participants in the Smith County Misdemeanor Recovery Court program celebrated their graduation.

The ceremony for graduates Brooke Edgemon and Andrew Maxwell was held inside the Smith County Ag Center. Members of the Recovery Court team, friends and family of the graduates, and community supporters were there to celebrate the accomplishments of Brooke and Andrew.

Judge Branden Bellar presided over the ceremony. In his opening remarks, Judge Bellar talked about the blessing of the recovery court and support it provides to those in need during their addiction recovery. The graduates had the chance to speak to the audience about their time in the program.

The Smith County Misdemeanor Recovery Court was established in March of 2015 through the efforts of former General Sessions Judge Michael Collins, the Fifteenth Judicial District Drug Court Program, the Smith County Drug Prevention Coalition, and the concerned citizens of Smith County.

The Smith County Misdemeanor Recovery Court is committed to assisting with the intervention, treatment, and rehabilitation of non-violent drug offenders who desire to change their lives and break the cycle of drug dependency.
