County Mayor Michael Nesbitt officially recognizes Eagle Scout Gregg Bass’s service to Smith County.
On Saturday, August 18, 2018, local Eagle Scout Greg Bass was recognized by Smith County Mayor Michael Nesbitt for his commitment to the improvement of Lock Seven Park in Carthage, Tennessee.
Mayor Nesbitt opened the ceremony, and Bass then briefly shared some information about the vision and execution of his project to those in attendance.
Bass explained that the main part of his project included clearing the overgrown riverbank to allow better visibility of the water from the park. A picnic table was also installed at the playground, and a tree identification display was erected near the forest area.
Additionally, Bass arranged the installation of a double-sided sign that directs people to Lock Seven Park from the main highway.
“It looks good, and I’m proud of it,” Bass told the crowd.
Mayor Nesbitt then read aloud the certificate of recognition he presented to Greg Bass. He formally acknowledged his gratitude and emphasized how Bass had made Lock Seven Park “safer and more useful for all families.”
Mayor Nesbitt also encouraged all Smith County citizens to join him in recognizing Bass’s selfless service to Smith County.
Greg Bass has been a member of Boy Scout Troop 367 for the past 11 years. He recently began his Senior year at Smith County High School.
Lock Seven Park is located near Kyle Owen Farms at the end of Lock Seven Lane in Carthage, Tennessee.
