Drugs found in traffic stop for revoked license violation

June 18, 2017

(Smith County Insider Press) — A Gordonsville woman faces charges following a traffic stop for a revoked license that led to the discovery of drugs Wednesday, June 7.

Sgt. Dusty Hailey of the Smith County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling Gordonsville Highway when he observed Robin Woodard (32, Gordonsville) driving a red Ford Explorer.

According to the arrest warrant, Hailey had prior knowledge of Woodard’s license being revoked, which Dispatch verified prior to Hailey stopping her.

Upon contact with Woodard, Hailey placed her under arrest for driving on a revoked license.

During a search of the vehicle, a Hydrocodone 10 mg tablet and a Suboxone 8 mg tablet were located — both of which Woodard stated she did not have a valid prescription for, according to the arrest warrant.

Woodward was transported to the Smith County Jail Facility for booking.

She is charged with two counts of simple possession of narcotics and driving on a suspended license.
