Drug Bust Operation Leads to Two Arrests
Working in collaboration, several officers of the Smith County Sherrif’s Office conducted a buy bust operation which lead to the arrest of two individuals on July 8.
According to the police report, Stanley Poe, Jr. agreed in a phone conversation to bring two “balls” of 7.2 GM of crystal methamphetamine from McMinnville to Smith County, specifically to the Brush Creek Post Office, with the intent to sell for $500.
Sergeant Junior Fields, Deputy Nick Campbell, Deputy Ray Biggs and Deputy Daniel McCoy made contact with Poe on Alexandria Highway near the Smith-Dekalb County line. Poe was driving a 1999 Jeep Cherokee with Tonya Wurst as a passenger.
A search of Poe’s vehicle revealed a total of 12 GM of crystal methamphetamine, approximately five GM of marijuana (Schedule VI), a set of digital scales, eight Quetiapine pills (legend drug) and 25 Buprenorphine pills (Schedule III).
Poe stated that one baggie of the marijuana belonged to him as well as 10.8 GM of the crystal methamphetamine. A Herrington 22 revolver and a Hi–Point Nine MM Rifle was also located in Poe’s vehicle.
Wurst was in possession of the additional pills, a bag of marijuana, and a small bag of crystal methamphetamine. Wurst also had a warrant out for her arrest in Missouri for violation of probation and failure to appear with full extradition.
Poe and Wurst were arrested and transported to the Smith County Jail for processing.
