Investigations led to the arrests of three individuals on drug charges in the Hickman and Lancaster communities on Wednesday, November 23.
Sgt. Junior Fields and Sgt. Dusty Hailey of the Smith County Sheriff’s Office went to a Hickman Creek Road residence for a probation search of 43-year-old Edward Good.
Upon arrival, Fields spoke with Edward, as well as 38-year-old Patricia Good, who were both present at the residence. According to the report, Fields explained to Edward that he had received information that he had marijuana at his residence and that Patricia was allegedly selling pills.
A search of Patricia’s purse revealed a bag containing approximately 1.9 oz of marijuana (schedule VI) and an unmarked pill bottle containing 21 Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine 10 mg pills (schedule II).
According to Fields’ report, Patricia admitted that she had attempted to hide the marijuana when he pulled up in the driveway and placed it in her purse to conceal it due to knowing it was illegal. According to the report, Edward admitted that it was actually his marijuana.
Both Patricia and Edward were placed under arrest and transported to the Smith County Jail Facility for booking.
Patricia is charged with manufacture/deliver/sell of a controlled substance and tampering with or fabricating evidence. Edward is charged with manufacture/deliver/sell of a controlled substance.
That same day, Fields, along with agents of the 15th Judicial District Drug Task Force, went to a residence on Maple Street in Lancaster following a text conversation in which Fields inquired about purchasing marijuana from 55-year-old Charles Preston as part of their investigation.
Upon arrival, Fields advised Preston that it was he who had been texting him about purchasing marijuana on this date. Preston agreed to show Fields where the marijuana was located, according to the report.
According to the report, Fields, along with agents from the task force, entered the residence with Preston and were presented with a small amount of marijuana. According to the report, Fields explained to Preston that he knew more marijuana was located in the residence, and Preston reached on top of a dresser and pulled down a bag containing approximately 3.8 oz of marijuana.
During a search of the residence, more marijuana was located, along with two sets of digital scales, numerous smoking pipes, and six hydrocodone pills, which Preston stated he did not have a prescription for, according to Fields’ report.
Preston was also found to be in possession of two pistols: a Jennings 9 mm and a MAB 22, according to the report. Due to Preston having possessed said guns during the commission of a dangerous felony (selling drugs), the guns were also confiscated, according to Fields’ report.
Preston was placed under arrest and transported to the Smith County Jail Facility for booking.
He is charged with manufacture/deliver/sell of a controlled substances, possession of controlled substances, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of firearm during commission of a felony.
