On 8/21/21, Deputy Dallas Eddie observed Mr. Robert Hickman driving while out on patrol. Deputy Eddie was aware that Mr. Hickman had outstanding warrants and a suspended license, so he attempted to pull Mr. Hickman over. Mr. Hickman refused to yield and instead increased his speed and attempted to flee the police. After a short pursuit, Mr. Hickman pulled his car over and attempted to flee on foot. Officers attempted to locate him afterwards, but were unable to.
Warrants were then obtained for Mr. Hickman for evading arrest in a motor vehicle, evading arrest on foot, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving and reckless endangerment, and speeding. Mr. Hickman’s vehicle was towed from the scene.
On 8/28/221, Deputy Nathan Williams, Sgt. Lankford, Asst. Chief Jared Smith, and Patrolman Stephen Enoch went to a private residence in order to attempt to apprehend Mr. Hickman. Ms. Mindy Washer was seen outside of the residence. Both Ms. Mindy Washer and Wanda Washer gave consent to search the home. Mr. Hickman was found inside the house, with methamphetamine, and he was then arrested. He was taken to the Smith County Jail for processing.
Mr. Hickman is being charged with Failure to appear, violation of probation, possession of methamphetamine, evading arrest, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, evading arrest on foot, driving on revoked license. He is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
