(Smith County Insider Press) – On November 16, 2019, Sergeant Ridge Long and Deputy Matt White conducted a traffic stop on Dixon Springs Highway due to a vehicle having an improperly displayed plate. According to the police report, both the driver and passenger of the vehicle displayed an elevated level of nervousness.
The driver, Connie Sutton (62, Buffalo Valley), was issued a warning citation for the improperly displayed tag. According to the police report, a search then revealed various doses of Morphine, Oxycodone, Endocet, Clonazepam, and Alprazolam in Sutton’s purse, which were packaged in various metal and plastic containers. Sutton also had a bottle of Diazepam prescribed to a family member.
Sutton was placed under arrest and was found to be in possession of Oxycodone, Alprazolam, and Morphine in a Bayer bottle hidden in her bra.
According to the police report, Sutton was found to be in possession of 296 prescription pills without any form of valid prescription. She was transported to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office for booking.
Sutton is charged with possession of controlled substances and four counts of simple possession of narcotics.
