You no longer have to wait until a fair or a festival to get freshly popped kettle corn in Gordonsville, Tennessee. Just visit Bill Bouldin, better known as “Popper Bill.”
Bill, who has called Smith County home for the past 30 years, sells his kettle corn under a tent beside the Gordonsville McDonald’s on Thursdays and Fridays from noon until 5:30 p.m.
Bill first started popping kettle corn at events and fairs with his granddaughters while they were in school.
Recently, he decided to try something a little more out-of-the-box and set up shop near the Interstate. Overall, Bill considers his popcorn stand a success, and he has developed a regular customer base.
“It’s really a pretty good part-time job,” Bill said.
The ingredients in Popper Bill’s kettle corn are simple: non-GMO corn, sugar, a corn-soy oil blend, and sea salt.
The bags of kettle corn range from $12 to $1 per bag, depending on the size.
