(Smith County Insider Press) South Carthage, Tenn. – Last Tuesday night, March 15, the Smith County School Board held their regular monthly meeting. The first item of new business on the agenda was the contract renewal of the school system’s director. Chairman Brian Smith called for a motion to extend Mr. Barry Smith’s contract. A motion was made by Tommy Manning and seconded by Robin Moore. The vote was unanimous.
Mr. Barry Smith’s contract was extended four years, which is the statutory maximum. The contract goes into effect on July 1, 2016 and will run through June 30, 2020.
