Smith County Director of Schools Barry H. Smith
During the April meeting of the Smith County Board of Education on Tuesday evening, the school board voted to extend the contract of Director of Schools Barry H. Smith until 2024.
The motion to extend the Director’s contract for two years was made by Scotty Lewis and seconded by Joe Taylor.
After some discussion, seven of the eight board members voted “yes” to the motion, and the motion carried. Board member Brian Smith abstained from the vote.
Prior to the extension, Director Smith’s contract agreement was valid through June 30, 2022. This extension makes the contract valid through June 30, 2024.
