During the October Smith County Board of Education meeting, Smith County Schools Transportation Supervisor Diana Gochcoff was presented with the Golden Apple Award for the 2019-2020 school year.
This award is given to an employee of the school system who goes above and beyond their job expectations. Other employees in the school system make the selection.
Gochcoff’s nomination included high praise for her work, including that she “goes above and beyond” and “it’s not just a job, [she] makes us family.”
Gochcoff supervises the transportation employees, oversees route assignments, ensures safety compliance, and manages the department’s records. Gochcoff often gets behind the wheel and drives due to the current driver shortage. She also works in community relations, including addressing concerns and being a contact point for parents.
