Crowd returns to William Walton Harvest Festival 2022

The William Walton Harvest Festival was held on Saturday, September 24th 2022. With over 40 vendors, food trucks and attractions participants could enjoy a variety of experiences. Rackley Roofing brought their zip line and racing simulator to Main Street. Zero Gravity provided the bungee jump event . Smith County Events Committee hosted a kids area with bounce houses and yard games. Several craft vendors and artisans provided home goods, holiday decorations, clothing, candles and much more. Food trucks and tents offered a variety that could satisfy the those looking for something savory or sweet. Local performers provided entertainment on the stage at the Historic Courthouse throughout the day.

A highlighted attraction for the day was the First Annual Biggest Little Duck Race fundraiser for the Pregnancy Help Center. The community support and duck sales brought the grand prize duck race total up to $3,796. Almost 1000 ducks were sold. Over 45 heats allowed winning ducks to advance to the final big race. Allison Wolff purchased the big race grand prize winner. 2nd place went to Penny Dillehay who received a vacations stay at Caney Cottage and 3rd Place, Kathy Tharp received a stay at the Hotel Walton.

This year was also the First Corn Hole Tournament. The Carthage Barber Shop generously sponsored the event. Cash prizes went to the 1st place team Will West and Larry Hacket, 2nd place team Joie Franklin and Hollis Mullinax and 3rd place team Junior Nesbitt and Chance Maxwell.

DTC sponsored the Minute Man Cash Call. Participants registered and once they received the minute man call on their cell phone they had 1 minute to get to the stage of the Historic Courthouse. Several $50 cash prizes were awarded through out the day and $200 was awarded just before the evening concert.

2022 Harvest Queen Pageant winners were crowned in six age divisions including – Miss Harvest Queen 2022 Artista Rigsby, Teen Miss Harvest Queen Callie Drennon, Junior Miss Harvest Queen Paisley Underwood, Petite Miss Harvest Queen Natalie Denton, Little Miss Harvest Queen Everly Flippin and Tiny Miss Harvest Queen Remi Beaver. The William Walton Harvest Festival is hosted by the Smith County Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by area businesses including Bank Tennessee, Better Letter Printing, Citizens Bank, DTC Communications, Nystar, The Pavilion, Rackley Roofing, Riverview Regional Medical Center, Smith County Bank, Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation and Wilson Bank and Trust. With over 2,500 visitors to this community event the Smith County Chamber is thankful to all who participate and work so hard to make the event a success. Executive Director of the Chamber said “it is a growing event and we are hoping it continues to grow and is even better next year.”
