Patty Nicole Hinman
Rhett Judson Coxwell
After receiving a call from a local citizen concerning the well-being of a woman outside the Quality Inn in Gordonsville on August 4, Smith County officers found cause to obtain a search warrant of the woman’s hotel room.
Upon contact, Sgt. Ridge Long discovered the woman, Patty Hinman, had a baggie of 1.5 grams of marijuana and a knife in her pants pocket.
After being detained by officers, Hinman revealed that her boyfriend, Rhett Judson Coxwell, also occupied her hotel room at the Quality Inn.
With a search warrant, Sgt. Long, Lt. Steven Babcock and Deputy Matthew White located methamphetamine, marijuana and hydrocodone pills, as well as several items that were being used to sale and consume illegal narcotics, in the hotel room.
A loaded M & P 40 caliber handgun was also located on a table in the room. Hinman was prohibited to be in possession of any firearm due to being a convicted felon.
Hinman and Coxwell were charged and booked at the Smith County Jail.
