County Commission Seat Filled for District 4

(Smith County Insider Press) Carthage, Tenn. – Monday night, the Smith County Commission nominated and unanimously elected Roy Shannon Minchey to fill the vacant seat of the late Mr. Frank Gibbs from District #4.

The seat has been vacant since Mr. Frank Gibbs sudden passing due to complications from an automobile accident on October 2, 2015.

The process of filling the vacant seat went through its legal course. Minchey was the only submitted applicant who was interested in the position. Shannon had previously ran for the seat the last general election in 2014 falling short behind Pamela Billington, Frank Gibbs, and Josh Kirby respectively.

Roy Minchey is a 1994 graduate from Smith County High School, and currently resides in Carthage. Minchey has been working for Smith County E-911 since 2005.

As stated from the meeting Monday night, Shannon looks forward to serving the people of Smith County and his district.

Minchey will be sworn in to his new position sometime this week.
