Christopher David Welsh

Christopher David Welsh will receive the coveted Eagle Scout Medal at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at 2:30 PM at the Carthage United Methodist Church.  Members of the community are invited to attend. He is the eleventh Scout to earn the Eagle rank since Troop 367 was revived in 2007.

Members of the Walton Trail District (WTD) Advancement Committee of Scouts BSA convened at the Carthage United Methodist Church on June 4, 2019, for the purpose of holding an Eagle Scout Board of Review for Christopher David Welsh of Troop 367.  After determining that all requirements had been met, the Board declared that Welsh had earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Scouts BSA.

Board members participating were (left to right, seated): Stacey Rodenbach (WTD Advancement Chair), Bernie Williamson (Pack 861, Gordonsville), David Bass (Eagle Scout, T367 Chartered Organization Representative), and Tracey Rodenbach (WTD Commissioner).  Standing (left to right) are: Roger Morris (Scoutmaster, T367), Daniel Welsh (Eagle Scout, Assistant Scoutmaster of T367), Chris Welsh (Eagle Scout, T367) Mark Welsh (Committee Chair, Pack 367), Sebrena Welsh (mom) and Adam Welsh (2nd Class Scout, T367).

Eagle Scout Project

Chris Welsh, a 2019 graduate of Gordonsville High School, earlier this year made a significant contribution to the families of Smith County through his Eagle Scout project: the design, construction, and installation of three benches at Lock Seven Park. Two of those benches are placed around the firepit and the other is located near the crest of the riverbank so one can sit and take in the view of the river.  In addition, Welsh installed a flag pole near the pavilion.  Thanks go to Cumberland Supply for donating the lumber and supplies.  The remainder of items were purchased with donations.  The Smith County Mayor’s Office provided oversight. Welsh’s completion of a significant community service project fulfills a major requirement for earning the coveted rank of Eagle Scout.
