On Saturday, May 2 Carthage Junction Depot invites you to the Quilted Memories exhibit of handmade quilts with heartfelt stories. Quilts on display are shared with us by Lesa Manning, Shane Smith, Lisa Ingram, Tabatha Edwards, Ted Edinger, Anne Ramsey, Aundrenia Baker, Jana Apple Hawkins, and Keith Williams.
Contributor, Anne Ramsey has worked for many years restoring antique quilts and describes our connection with the handmade heirlooms beautifully: “Quilts may draw us in with their colors, textures, and patterns, but they can also provide insights into the lives of those who created, used, and treasured them. They are attached to memories and a powerful way to connect to those who are absent from us.”
There are examples of a variety of patterns and quilt styles represented in this exhibit from humble flour sacks fashioned into a quilt of beautiful, comforting practicality to a creative, modern interpretation created as a visual art piece. Each quilt was created with love and care.
This exhibit is free and open to the public from 10am-4pm, Saturday May 2. In addition to the gallery area, the Depot is also home to a small railroad museum of pictures and artifacts from the building’s history as well as a gift shop of work from local artists and craftsmen. The Carthage Junction Depot is located at 185 Gordonsville Hwy, Brush Creek, TN.
